Moldova. Conditions were fair for winter crops


Warmer than usual weather with precipitation dominated the country on February 12-18. The average weekly air temperature was within -1.0.. +1.1ºС, i.e. 1.5-2.5ºС above normal. Air temperatures peaked at +6ºС and bottomed out at -7ºС.

During the week, precipitation occurred in the form of snow, sleet and rain. Its rates totaled mostly 10-21 mm in 60% of the country (1-2.5 times the normal weekly amount). Snow cover remained almost everywhere throughout the week, with its height varying from 1 cm to 17 cm.  

The soil was thawed in most of the country at the time. Only towards the end of this period did it locally freeze to a 1-7 cm depth. Winter crops were dormant last week, reports UkrAgroConsult.
