Moldova. Conditions were mostly favorable for survival of winter crops


Mostly usual air temperatures and abundant precipitation were observed in the country between January 15-21.

The average weekly air temperature was close to normal at -2.5..-4.5ºС in most of Moldova, locally being 0.5-1ºC below normal. The highest air temperature was registered at +7ºС and the lowest one at -14ºС.

Over the week, the country saw precipitation mainly in the form of snow. Its rates totaled mostly 15-40 mm (65-125% of the normal monthly amount). Some areas, primarily northernmost ones, received at most 3-6 mm (30-90% of weekly normal).

Snow cover was seen almost all over the country throughout the week, reports UkrAgroConsult. Its height at weather stations closed the week predominantly at 15-30 cm, locally at 5-10 cm. The soil was frozen mostly to a depth of 1-13 cm towards the weekend. Winter crop plants were dormant.
