Moldova. Crops of the future - sunseed or soybean?

The government of Moldova has requested the opinion of the German Economic Consulting Group regarding produce growable in Moldova which would have greater potential for export to the EU market, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The German Group’s economists believe Moldova could change its key profile in the short term from wheat and sunseed growing to production of soybeans, sorghum, walnuts and hazelnuts or honey.

The experts point out that sunseed holds a dominant position in the market and can easily be replaced with soybeans. Just one season is needed to get their crop grown. Moldova’s advantage consists in the fact that these products are not genetically modified.

A second stage is the development of processing and export, for instance, of soybean oil, not soybeans.
