Moldova. Fair weather conditions for winter crops

Colder-than-usual weather with precipitation occurrences was observed in the country, reports UkrAgroConsult. The average weekly air temperature in Moldova was -4.9..-6.5°C, i.e. 2-4°C below normal. Air temperatures bottomed out at -20°C.

During the week, precipitation occurred there mostly in the form of snow. Their total weekly rate varied primarily within 5-15 mm (75-160% of normal weekly value).

Snow cover stayed all over the country throughout the week. It depth on weather instrument platforms was 5-15 cm towards the weekend.

Over the week, the soil was frozen mostly to a depth of 10-25 cm, even to 29-35 cm in some areas.

The lowest soil temperature at the tillering node depth of winter crops (3 cm) was registered at -1..-4°C. This is far above its killing value of -15ºC.
