Moldova. Favorable weather accelerated crop development

22.06.2018

On June 11-17, the weather in Moldova was warmer than usual, locally with abundant precipitation. The average weekly air temperature was mostly 2-4°С above normal, at +20...+24°С – this occurs on average once in 3-5 years.

Last week, productive moisture supply in the topsoil was replenished by rainfalls, which were heavy in some areas. This improved the conditions for crop growth and development in most of the country. As before, above-normal air temperatures accelerate growth and development of crops.

Over the week, winter crops were still at the stage of milk ripeness, locally even at wax ripeness.

The leaf formation process continued in corn plants. Sunflower was still at the stage of heading.
