Moldova. Overwintering conditions for winter crops remain fair


Usual temperatures and short precipitation dominated the country.  The average weekly air temperature was mainly close to normal at -2.8..-4.3ºC. Air temperatures bottomed out at -16ºC. Over the week, no precipitation occurred in most of Moldova, totaling 1-4 mm (10-60% of weekly normal) in some areas. Towards the weekend, snow cover depth on instrument platforms was mainly 2-9 cm, even 15-17 cm in some areas.

Winter crops and perennial plantings were dormant throughout the week. In winter crops, the lowest soil temperature values at the tillering node depth (3 cm) over the week were registered at -1..-7ºC, i.e. above the critical -15ºC.
