Moldova. Weather conditions and crop development


During the period of August, 15-21 warmer than usual weather was observed in the country. Average weekly air temperature was 1.0-2.5 ° C above the norm and reached +20.1.. + 23.7°C, informs UkrAgroConsult.

Maximum air temperature rose to + 35 ° C. Precipitation was uneven across the territory of the country during the week. Precipitation amount during the week was mostly 1-9 mm (5-70% of weekly norm) on 45% of the country, 10-23 mm (85-175% of weekly norm) on 30% of the territory. Warmer than usual with insufficient precipitation weather was noted during the week and created unfavorable conditions for crops growth and development. In some places significant rainfall slightly improved conditions for soil preparation for winter crops sowing.

Corn was seen mainly at the stage of wax ripeness during the week, at some areas- complete ripeness. Moisture stocks under corn in 1m of soil layer had mostly 15-55 mm (25-70% of the norm), in some places - 105-145 mm (145-155% of the norm).

Ripening of sunflower continued, technical ripeness was seen in some places. Productive moisture reserves in 1m soil layer had mostly 10-70 mm (15-70% of the norm), in some places, especially in the northern regions - 85-100 mm (85-100% of the norm).
