Moldova. Winter crops were dormant throughout the week

Warmer-than-usual weather with precipitation was observed in the country from February 20-26.

The average weekly air temperature in Moldova was +2.9..+4.7°C, or 4.5-5.5°C above normal. Air temperatures peaked at +16.3ºC and bottomed out at -5.5ºC.

Over the week, precipitation totaled mostly 1-6 mm in 70% of the country (15-70% of its normal) and 7-18 mm (85-250% of normal) in the rest of Moldova, primarily in its southern half. Snow cover was seen in the first half of the week. This snow was gone towards the end of the period.

Winter crops were dormant throughout the week. Soil temperatures at the depth of winter crops’ tillering node (3 cm) fell to a low of 0..-1ºC during the week.
