Moldova. Winter crops were exposed to fair conditions for their survival


Abnormally warm weather with precipitation was seen in the country between December 25-31. The average weekly air temperature in Moldova was +4..+7ºС, or 6 - 8ºС above normal.

Air temperatures peaked at +14ºС that occurs on average once per 10 years at this time. The lowest temperature was registered at -3ºС.

Over the week, 80% of the country received on average 7-22 MM of precipitation (80-270% of normal), locally 1-6 mm (10-70% of normal). The rest of Moldova saw no precipitation, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Slow daytime growth of winter crops was registered over the week due to high air temperatures.

At the time, minimum soil temperatures at the tillering node depth in winter crops (3 cm) fell to 0..+1ºС that is far above their killing level of -15ºС.
