Rain-free weather with variable air temperatures was observed from September 25 till October 1. The average weekly air temperature was at +10.1..+13ºС, or 1.6-2ºС below normal. Air frost events of -1..-2ºС locally occurred. In most of the country, frost was registered at a 2-cm height above the ground and on the ground surface (down to -1..-4ºС).

Unfavorable conditions for tillage and planting winter crops on a timely schedule persisted in the southern half of the country due to the absence of precipitation and a low content of productive moisture in the topsoil.
