Moldovan farmers continued harvesting sunseed and corn


Variable air temperatures and abundant precipitation was observed in most of the country between September 18-24. The average weekly air temperature was mainly +15..+19ºС, or 2-4 ºС above its normal value.

The highest air temperature was registered at +32ºС. 65% of Moldova, mostly its northern half, received 25-70 mm of precipitation over the week (50-145% of monthly normal). 20% of the country got 10-15 mm of precipitation (110-125% of weekly normal).

Heavy downpours with hail locally occurred between September 21-24 – they caused crop damages.

Over the week, rainfalls replenished soil moisture content and improved conditions for tillage and planting winter crops in most of the country.
