Moldovan farmers started planting early spring crops


Warmer-than-usual weather was observed in the country. The average weekly air temperature was +4.5..+5.8ºC, or 3-4ºC above normal. The highest air temperature reached +14ºC.

60% of the country received mostly 1-4 mm of precipitation over the week (20-65% of normal rates). The rest of Moldova got 5-10 mm (85-160% of normal), reports UkrAgroConsult.

During the week, the weather was primarily satisfactory for growth and development of winter crops and soil preparation for sowing early spring crops. In most of the country winter crops were at the stages of tillering and three leaves. Moldovan farmers have started planting early spring crops. The average soil temperature at 5-cm and 10-cm depths varied from +4 to +7ºC throughout the week.
