Oat groats production in Ukraine continues to increase rapidly

In the first ten months of 2017, groats production in Ukraine continued increasing and reached 269.3 KMT (up 0.7% year-on-year).

This year, like in 2016, the greatest gain was registered in production of oat groats (up 75.9% year-on-year at 4.35 KMT). Ukrainian production of buckwheat groats stopped sinking and featured a rise for the first time in a few years. It totaled roughly 44 KMT for the ten months of 2017, or 2.7% more than a year ago.

Production of other groats went down in 2017. In particular, wheat groats output decreased 8.8% against the same time last year, to 34.6 KMT, while production of corn groats lost 12.5% (43.57 KMT), millet groats were down 8% (14.16 KMT), peel barley groats down 20.7% (6.74 KMT), pearl barley groats down 15.8% (6.41 KMT), and rice groats production was reduced almost by half to 11 MT.
