Oilseed harvest in Ukraine drawing to an end


The harvest of oilseeds in Ukraine is entering its final phase. As of October 18, sunseed was harvested from 5245.9 Th ha (88% of the planned 5937.9 Th ha) with a crop of 10213 KMT and a yield of 1.95 MT/ha. The harvest pace is 8.8% ahead of last year. The yield is 11% below the 2016 level, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As of October 18, soybeans were harvested from 1431 Th ha (up 6.4% year-on-year) out of the planned 1991.6 Th ha. Farmers got 2665.4 KMT of soybeans (down 8.7% year-on-year) with a yield of 1.86 MT/ha (down 14.3% year-on-year).

In addition, the planting of winter rape is nearly complete. It was planted on 832.9 Th ha by October 18 that is 7% above the projected 776.7 Th ha. The planting pace is 8.3% ahead of last year. So, 769 Th ha was seeded to winter rape a year ago.
