Oman became an importer of soybean meal from Ukraine

Soybean meal exports from Ukraine totaled 19.8 KMT in June 2016/17 against 25.7 KMT in May 2017 and 28.9 KMT in June 2016. The decline in export shipments, which has been persisting for a third consecutive month now, brought the seasonal figures below last year’s record again. So, a total 258.7 KMT of soybean meal was exported in September-June of the current season, or 6% less than at the same time a year ago (275.5 KMT).

Taking into account soybean meal export prospects for the season’s last two months, when no rise in shipments is envisaged, UkrAgroConsult expects Ukrainian exports of this product to approximate 280 KMT for the whole 2016/17 season.

Overall, the current season’s geography of export destinations for Ukrainian soybean meal looks quite stable. As before, the largest share (over 38%) is on account of the European Union, with Hungary retaining its top position: the country’s portion has expanded to 23%. The export shares of Belarus and Georgia equal 20% and 14%, respectively. In addition, Turkey has slightly reduced purchases of Ukrainian soybean meal and its export share is down at 10%. Also, June witnessed the first-ever delivery of Ukrainian soybean meal to Oman.
