Pakistan’s agri products to have better market access in Indonesia

23.01.2018

The Indonesian government has unilaterally agreed to provide agri products from Pakistan with deeper market access. This comes under the preferential trade agreement (PTA), which will help reduce the negative trade balance between the two courtiers.

“We have renegotiated with Indonesia the provision about reducing duties on 20 items to 0%,” said a senior official of Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce. Pakistan shared a list of products with the Indonesian government in the last three review meetings of the PTA. Among others, Pakistan has asked that the tariff be reduced to 0% on meat and meat products, and broken rice (feed grade and others).
