Philippine chicken inventory down 30%

As of January 1, the national inventory of dressed-chicken went down by nearly 30% from 24,238.49 MT recorded a year ago, according to the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS).

NMIS data showed chicken purchased abroad accounted for more than half of the inventory from the same period last year, 1.71% lower than the 9,077.53 tonnes imported a year ago. Locally produced chicken made up the remaining volume. Fresh-chilled chicken and mechanically deboned meat were not included in the NMIS data and the survey only accredited cold-storage facilities.
