Philippines lifts ban on Brazil meat imports

01.12.2017

The Philippines has lifted its four-month ban on beef, poultry and other meat products coming from Brazil after an evaluation by the Department of Agriculture Inspection Mission (DAIM). The DAIM concluded Brazilian meat exporters to the Philippines are compliant with the Philippine animal health and food safety requirements after they inspected several slaughterhouses and dressing plants in Brazil in October.

The government banned Brazilian meat products in July after it was found to be tainted with salmonella. The lifting of the ban is expected to increase demand for meat, particularly poultry products from Brazil.
