Planting delayed in some of Kazakhstan’s regions

The late arrival of spring in Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan forced farmers to revise the dates of spring field work. This work was already 80% complete in the region in early April 2016. Now the local growers are about 90% prepared for spring field work.

48.3% of winter wheat seedlings in the region can be rated as good, 40.5% as fair, 10.3% as mediocre and 0.6% has been winter-killed, reports UkrAgroConsult.

At the same time, North Kazakhstan is prepared for carrying out spring field work. Pursuing the crop diversification policy, farmers expand the shares of remunerative crops such as lentil and peas in their cereal and pulse plantings.

Sowing of spring wheat, barley, oats and safflower continues in Kyzylorda region. This work is expected to be completed by April 15.
