Planting of early spring crops started in Romania

In the first half of the reporting week, air temperatures were still too cold in the north-east of the country (2..4°С below long-term normal). They rose later in the week, even reaching +15..+20°С from March 29. Daytime air temperature varied within +5..+15°С throughout the week.

Cold air temperatures have caused some delay in planting. Little precipitation (5-10 mm over the week throughout the country) was conductive to brisker fieldwork. The 5-cm soil layer temperature is favorable for sowing peas, alfalfa, and other spring crops. Moisture supply is at sufficient and satisfactory levels.

Plants of winter wheat and barley are mostly at the tillering stage. Rape plants are building up their leaf apparatus. Winter crops are predominantly in good condition, reports UkrAgroConsult.
