Planting of winter cereals began in Ukraine

Ukrainian farmers have started planting winter cereals. As of September 4, this work was complete on 29 Th ha out of the projected 7238 Th ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Winter wheat and triticale were seeded on 26 Th ha out of the projected 6151 Th ha (6169 Th ha was in 2016). Farmers are going to expand winter barley plantings by 4.2% against last year, to 926 Th ha. 1 Th ha was planted to winter barley by the reporting date. Rye was sown on 2 Th ha (1%) out of the projected 161 Th ha (168 Th ha in 2016).

The harvest of late crops continues in the country. Corn was harvested from 13 Th ha (26 Th ha as of September 5, 2016) with a crop of 48 KMT (95 KMT) and an average yield of 3.72 MT/ha (3.66 MT/ha).
