Planting of winter rape almost complete in Ukraine


Ukrainian farmers continue harvesting oilseeds. As of September 13, sunseed was harvested from 917.3 Th ha (15% of the projected 5937.2 Th ha) with a crop of 1604.6 KMT and a yield of 1.75 MT/ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The harvest progress slowed down again last week, the lag increased to 34.3% against 8% a week earlier. Still, the yield, on the contrary, rises as this work advances, though being down 13.8% from last year (2.03 MT/ha).

As of September 13, soybeans were harvested from 173.8 Th ha (47% less than last year) out of the projected 1991.6 Th ha. Growers got 296.1 KMT of soybeans (down 56% year-on-year) with a yield of 1.70 MT/ha (down 18% year-on-year).

In addition, planting of winter rape is going on. It was 95% complete by September 13 (739 Th ha out of the projected 776.7 Th ha). The planting progress is 16.6% ahead of 2016. So, 634 Th ha was already sown to winter rape at the same time a year ago.
