Port of Gdansk intends to connect with river routes of Belarus


Gdansk Port Authority set up an internal working group to coordinate feasibility study for waterway modernization, which links Gdansk Bay and Vistula Gulf with the system of Belarusian rivers. According to the idea of its initiators, the project will attract additional cargoes from landlocked Belarus to Polish port, as well as strengthen transit potential of Poland, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The planned feasibility study will include and improvement of the E-40 waterway for the Vistula River on sections from Gdansk to Warsaw and from Warsaw to Polish-Belarusian border and the E-70 waterway from the Vistula to Vistula Gulf (to Elblag). The tasks of internal working group will include description of the subject of order, preparation of tender documents and announcement of a tender, which is scheduled for the end of 2017 – beginning of 2018, in which the contractor for research will be chosen.
