President Poroshenko: Ukraine's GDP growing 6 quarters in a row after 14 quarters of decline

21.09.2017

The Ukrainian economy has started to recover, and GDP has been growing six quarters in a row after fourteen quarters of decline.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this in his address to the participants of the Ukrainian Financial Forum.

"Strict anti-crisis measures, macro-financial stabilization, reducing tax burden, deregulation, anti-corruption measures, opening new foreign markets, including thanks to the Association Agreement and the deep and comprehensive free trade area with the European Union – these steps have cleared the way for the restoration of our economy. The GDP has been growing six quarters in a row after fourteen quarters of decline," he said.

"Having received a powerful blow because of the war, the aggressive closure of our once largest market by Russia and even the Russian blockade of exports to third countries, we not just survived but avoided the default... We laid the foundation for sustainable development," Poroshenko said.
