Private exporters sell 365,000 mt of US corn in one day: USDA

Private exporters reported Thursday the sale of 365,000 mt of US corn in one day, the US Department of Agriculture said Friday.

Of the total, 170,000 mt were for delivery to Egypt and 195,000 mt for delivery to unspecified destinations. Both sales were for delivery during the current marketing year (September 2017-August 2018).

Exporters are required to report any US export sales of 100,000 mt or more of a single agricultural commodity, made in one day, to the USDA.

The agency does not disclose the identity of exporters reporting under this requirement.

Corn is the primary feedstock for ethanol production in the US and is the main competitor for dried distillers grains.
