Private exporters sold 120,000 mt of US corn to Mexico: USDA


Private exporters on Thursday reported the sale of 120,000 mt of US corn in one day for delivery to Mexico during the 2017-18 marketing year (September-August), the US Department of Agriculture said Friday.

Mexico has been the largest US corn buyer in the current 2016-17 marketing year, purchasing 13.067 million mt, of which 9.993 million mt have been shipped, according the USDA.

Likewise, Mexico is already the largest US corn buyer for the 2017-18 year, with purchases of 1.423 million mt, without considering Thursday's purchase.

Exporters are required to report to the USDA any US export sales of 100,000 mt or more of a single agricultural commodity made in one day.

The agency does not disclose the identity of exporters reporting under this requirement.
