Qatar and Russia discussing a joint project for grain storage

A project is being discussed now for setting up an export hub for Russian grain in Qatar to resolve food security issues in the region and neighboring countries, reports UkrAgroConsult.

At a meeting of representatives of Qatar’s Chamber of Commerce and the Russian delegation it was agreed that the hub would be located in the new port of Hamad. Apart from storage, the project also envisages turning Qatar into the main grain hub in the region. Additionally, the project involves providing services for packaging and export of various grains.

The proposal came from a group of Qatari investors; the project may operate on the basis of state-private partnership.
