Retail trade turnover in Russia fell by 5.2% last year


Retail trade turnover in Russia in 2016 decreased by 5.2% in comparable prices compared to the year 2015.

The figure dropped to 28,137 trillion rubles for the entire year, and in December, by 5.9% to 2,899 trillion roubles, is spoken in the operational report of Rosstat.

On a monthly basis, retail turnover in December showed a growth of 18.3%. In November the index decreased by 4.1% in annual terms and by 0.9% in the month.

In 2016, the structure of retail trade turnover the proportion of food, beverages and tobacco products amounted to 48.7%, nonfood goods – 51,3% (as in 2015).

In December 2016, these figures were at the level of 48.5% and 51.5% (in December 2015 – was 48.8% and 51.2%, respectively
