Romania. Absence of snow cover may provoke frost damage of crops

Lower-than-normal air temperatures persisted in Rumania this past week (4..2°С below long-term normal). The average daytime air temperature varied within -7..+3°С.

Light precipitation in the form of rain and sleet occurred mostly in the north (5-10 mm). The southeast is still exposed to soil drought, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Too low air temperatures and the absence of adequate snow cover pose the frost-kill risk to winter crops in case of further cooling.

Winter grains are in the tillering stage. Winter rape plants are in the stage of leaf rosette (7-11 leaves).
