Romania continues to import wheat processed products at record high pace


In 2015/16 (July-June) Romania imported 140 KMT of wheat flour, which was 3% higher than in the previous season, despite a 6% rise in wheat crop compared to 2014/15, reports UkrAgroConsult. Romania continues to import wheat flour at record high pace. romania wheat crop

According to UkrAgroConsult data, in 2015/16 key supplier of wheat flour for Romania remained Hungary with 108 KMT, increasing exports in Romanian destination by 17% compared to the previous season. Bulgaria doubled exports to 10.47 KMT (+51%). Moldova decreased exports by 7% to 8.4 KMT.

The tendency is even more visible in bran imports. In 2015/16 total imports of bran increased by 41% compared to the previous season, reaching a new record of 76 KMT. Key suppliers are the same as in wheat flour. Purchases from Hungary grew by 27%, Bulgaria supplied +43% and Moldova +42%.
