Romania. Corn harvesting is almost finished

Last week air temperature continued to decrease all over the territory of the country, reports UkrAgroConsult. In the Western, South-Western and Northern regions average temperature was 2-4 ºС lower than norms. In South-Western part (Dobrogea region) it corresponded the norm. Average air temperature was within  -1..+16ºС, with maximum reaching +19ºС and minimum lowering to -1 ºС in the night time. Local soil frosts were observed.

5 - cm soil layer warmed to +5..+15ºС in the daytime, which was favorable for further winter crops development. Winter crops condition is good in the regions with sufficient soil moisture stocks. Plants are at the stage of the 3rd leave formation and tillering. In the nearest time vegetation processes will slow down due to expected air temperature decrease. Wet snow is expected in some the Western, Northern and Central agricultural regions.

Corn harvesting is almost finished (96%). Farmers of North-Eastern and Eastern parts inform on disastrous yields – 2-3MT/ha. By contrast, farmers of West and North-West reported on record high yields – 8-10 MT/ha.
