Romania: elevated temperatures provoke soil moisture evaporation

Elevated temperatures (on average 4..6°С above long-term normals) persisted in Romania this past week. The mean daytime temperature varied within -3..+7°С. On February 6, the thermometer showed +12°С in the southwest.

No substantial precipitation has occurred over the reporting period: elevated temperatures provoke evaporation of soil moisture. Growth resumption in winter crops is reported in the south because of the warm air temperatures, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Meteorologists forecast abundant precipitation in the form of rain and sleet in the northern, eastern and central regions next week.
