Romania. Farmers almost completed harvesting of sunflower


Last week excessive air temperature regime retained in many agricultural regions of Romania. Air temperatures exceeded the norms by 1-8 ºС and varied within +3..+28ºС with maximums reaching +34ºС in the South and South-East. 5 -m soil layer warmed to +19..+28ºС, which was favorable for further winter crops sowing and for germination of wheat, barley and rapeseed sowings. Gradual lowering of average air temperatures is forecasted this week.

Light rains were observed in the Western and Central regions (5-15 mm), with abundant rains forecasted for the Southern and South Eastern parts this week. Moisture stocks in 0-20 cm soil layer in the key producing regions of South and South-East are not satisfactory for the development of crops.

According to UkrAgroConsult sources, farmers of Romania have almost completed harvesting of sunflower in all agricultural areas. They continue to harvest corn and plant winter grain and oilseed crops.
