Romania: high temperatures promote further growth of winter crops

21.12.2017

High air temperatures (4..6°С above normal) dominated almost the entire country. Daytime air temperatures were within -7..+4°С throughout the week. Precipitation was registered everywhere – about 25-50 mm in the north and west, or far above its normal monthly rate. It snowed in eastern and central parts of Romania (5-10 mm).

A warm spell occurred in the latter half of the week. In the south of the country, along the Bulgarian border, the thermometer indication reached +16…+18°С. Abnormal warmth keeps winter crops growing in South Romania.

Winter wheat and winter barley are at the stages of three leaves and tillering. Rape plants have developed 7-14-leaf rosettes. Winter crops are mostly in good condition, reports UkrAgroConsult.
