Romania increased corn exports by 18%


In January 2016/17 MY Romania exported 274.48 KMT of corn, which was almost in line with the volume, shipped in January 2016 – 275.2 KMT. Record volume for this month was exported in January 2015 – 460 KMT, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Since the beginning of the current season (September-January) corn exports from Romania equaled 2249 KMT or 18% more than over the same period last season (1909 KMT). 

Over the reporting period Egypt became the top buyer of Romanian corn (393.8 KMT against 91 KMT over the same period last season), ousting Spain to the second place with 361 KMT (393 KMT). Portugal and Lebanon also increased considerably their purchases.
