Romania. Monthly wheat exports continue to set records


According to available data, in May 2016 Romanian wheat exports were more than 100% higher than in May 2015, equaling 405 KMT, which was a new record for this month (previous record was seen in May 2014 – 284.2 KMT). 

Increase in May export volume was observed due to higher demand from Libya (130 KMT) and continued exports to other key purchasers – Egypt (69.4 KMT), Jordan (52.5 KMT) and Ethiopia (35.35 KMT).  Moreover, in May Nigeria imported 45.5 KMT of wheat from Romania - first time in the reporting season (in 2014/15 – 27.4 KMT).
