Romania. Snow cover protects winter crops for freezing

A severe cold-spell occurred in the country early in the week. The average temperature varied within a range of -10..-5ºC. In the north of Romania, air temperature briefly dropped to a low of -26 ºC, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Up to 10-25 cm of snow covered almost all the growing areas. Winter crops were only exposed to the risk of winterkill in small western areas free of snow.

Air temperatures closed the week at -2...+3ºC, even at +7ºC in the south of the country.
