Romania: snow cover reported in some farming regions


Elevated air temperatures (+10..+15°С, or 4-6°С above normal) persisted in western Romania this past week. A cold spell occurred in the country on the weekend: air temperature dropped to +3..-2°С. Precipitation in the form of snow was seen in the central, northern and southern regions. A 5-15-cm-thick snow cover was accumulated there, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As before, most growing areas are exposed to severe and moderate soil drought. 

Winter cereals are in the stages of the first pair of true leaves and tillering. Winter rape is in the stage of leaf rosettes (6-9 leaves).
