Romania. Sunflower and corn plants are at leaf formation

Temperatures were within their multi-year normal range, except for the north where the average temperature was 2-4ºС below normal. Slight frost occurred in North Romania overnight into May 11. Daytime air temperatures were within a range of +11…+22ºС.

Precipitation in the form of rain occurred all across the country, having totaled 10-35 mm over the week. Its rates reached 50 mm in some western and south-western areas.

These rainfalls replenished soil moisture content in crops, thereby contributing to their better condition and development. Soil drought is observed locally in the south, south-west and in the center of Romania. The top soil layer has warmed to 10-21ºС, which was favorable tor crops development.

Winter rape has entered the blooming stage everywhere, even the pod formation stage in the south. Winter barley and winter wheat are at heading. Sunflower and corn plants are at leaf formation, reports UkrAgroConsult.
