Romania. Supply & demand balance of corn

29.09.2016

Considering long-term drought in the Southern and South-Eastern producing regions of Romania in summer of 2016, UkrAgroConsult lowered its estimates of Romanian average corn yield in 2016/17.

Still this estimate is higher than the result of last year due to sufficient rains in the Western and North-Western part of the country, which will partially compensate for the losses in the key producing regions.

2016 corn crop estimate was lowered by 850 KMT compared to the previous forecast, which is still higher than result of 2015/16 – 8100 KMT, but far behind the record crop of 2014/15 season. Despite quite high corn sowing area, Romania had second in a row low corn crop.

Due to lower corn crop, UkrAgroConsult also revised down export forecast in 2016/17 season.

Updated corn supply and demand balances are available to subscribers for weekly market report “Black Sea Grain & Oil” and “Online market review” by UkrAgroConsult.
