Romania. Winter crop condition is predominantly good

25.11.2016

Temperatures were above their long-term averages for this time of year all over the country. Snow cover (1-10 cm) generated last week only remains in isolated central areas of Romania. The average air temperature fluctuated within -3..+12°C, while night-time temperatures reached a low of -9°C and provoked topsoil freezing. Precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow was registered all across the country. Sufficient and optimal amounts of soil moisture are available to winter crops almost everywhere except for small areas in the Danube Delta.

Cereal plants are at three-leaf stage, their tillering is seen in the south. Crop condition is predominantly good, but late-sown plants are weak, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Winter rape plants developed 8-14-leaf rosettes in the south and south-east, crop condition is predominantly good.
