Romania. Winter crops are mostly in good condition

Cold temperatures persisted in Romania last week. The average air temperature in the east of the country was 2-4°С below long-term normal.

On some days, an opposite situation was observed in the west, where air temperature reached +10°С, i.e. exceeded normal by 1-2°С.

The daytime air temperature stayed within -8..+5°С throughout the week.

Precipitation occurred in the south mostly in the form of rain. Snow cover remained in the north and north-east, protecting winter crops against low temperatures.

Winter crops are dormant. Plants of winter wheat and barley are at the stages of three leaves and tillering. Rape plants have developed 7-14-leaf rosettes. Winter crops are mostly in good condition; they were not exposed to the threat of winterkill past week, reports UkrAgroConsult.
