Romanian farmers continue sunflower sowing and complete corn sowing

Elevated temperatures were reported almost all over the country (2-4ºC above multi-year normal for this period). The average weekly air temperature varied within a range of +5..+17ºC. Maximum temperature hit +23ºC in the south. The lowest one was registered at -4ºC in Central Romania in the nighttime.

Precipitation only occurred in the northern regions, at a total 5-10 mm. Drought in the 0-100 cm and 0-20 cm soil layers persists in the central regions and locally in the south and west of the country, in its regions bordering on Hungary, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Farmers have actually completed corn planting and continue sunflower planting. Winter rapeseed has proceeded to the budding and inflorescence formation stages almost everywhere. It is even in bloom in isolated fields owing to elevated temperatures.
