Romanian farmers started corn harvest

Elevated air temperatures (4-6°С above long-term normals) persisted all over the country this past week. The average air temperature varied within +18..+30°C.

Abundant precipitation occurred in the west and north-west of Romania (15-35 mm over the week). In fact, the rest of the country saw no rain – this contributes to rapid soil moisture evaporation. Drought events intensified in the south-east and spread towards the south and east. This is an unfavorable process ahead of sowing.

Farmers started corn harvest last week and continue harvesting sunseed.
