Russia. Altai region farmers to continue participating in Soya project this year

Trial plantings of high-protein soya varieties in Altai region expanded more than three times this season. In total, farmers have planted more than 7.5 Th ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Just 2 Th ha was sown last year, when growers in Mamontovsky and Smolensky districts took part in the experiment. Soybeans of these varieties contained 37% to 44% of protein.

The obtained results heightened growers’ interest. So, 17 farms took part in the Soya project this year, including those located in Novichikhinsky, Zonalny, Krasnoschekovsky, Pospelikhinsky and other districts. The size of areas allocated by the farmers for soya cultivation ranges from 50 to 3,000 ha.
