Russia. Barley exports expected at the lowest level since 2013/14

Barley exports from Russia somewhat quickened early in 2017. So, Russia exported about 147.2 KMT of barley in January 2017, or 20% more than in January 2016 (123.1 KMT), reports UkrAgroConsult.

Nonetheless, export deliveries in the seven months of this season are still extremely low, with their total volume being at the 2013/14 level. The country exported 1984 KMT of barley from July till January 2016/17 (1967 KMT at the same time in MY 2013/14). This is down 40% from the same period a year ago (3337 KMT went abroad in July-January 2015/16).

Preliminary data on February barley shipments from Russia show their further decrease. Noteworthy, UkrAgroConsult reduced its 2016/17 barley export estimate for Russia to 3 MMT. As a reminder, 2.64 MMT of barley was exported in 2013/14, which is a similar marketing year in terms of the export pace.
