Russia exported a record volume of wheat to Lebanon

According to preliminary information, Russia exported 1252 KMT of wheat in February 2017, or 42% less than in February 2016, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In July-February 2016/17, wheat exports from Russia were down 0.8% year-on-year at 18,883 KMT against 19,036 KMT in July-February 2015/16.

As before, the key end market for Russian wheat was Egypt with an export share of 22%. It is worth noting that Russia boosted wheat shipments to India and Vietnam to 156 KMT and 124 KMT, respectively.

Russian exports to the Lebanese market have already exceeded last season’s volume by 59% and hit an all-time high of 660 KMT. Remarkably, Russia is quite likely to become Lebanon’s top wheat supplier this season.
