Russia. First container train from China arrived in London

The train has covered 12,000 km via seven countries for 18 days. Its way lay through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Belgium and France. The freight consisted mostly of clothes and other consumer goods produced in China, reports UkrAgroConsult.

It is expected that trains will go by this route every week, since this is an economically advantageous way: it takes 30 days less for a train to get from China to Britain compared to a cargo ship. And such a trip costs five times less than dispatching one aircraft.

This was the first trial rail transport along the so-called “New Silk Road” through Russia. This train casts doubt on the prospects of the Ukrainian-Georgian project. As a reminder, the alternative route runs through Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan.
