Russia. Flour exports are going down at the background of lower milling wheat supply on domestic market

At the start of 2016/17 MY Russian flour exports were higher than in the previous several seasons, but still lower than volumes exported over the same period of 2015/16, reports UkrAgroConsult. Thus, in July-August Russia exported about 26.9 KMT of flour, which was 34% less than over the same period of 2015/16.

UAE continue to import high volumes of Russian flour. In general, other key importers of Russian flour remain the same – China, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, etc.

Lower export volumes are connected with production decrease early in 2016/17 MY. In the first two months of the current season flour production decreased by 6% compared to the same period of 2015/16 and equaled 1.51 MMT due to the lower volumes of high quality milling wheat availability on the domestic market.

At the start of 2016/17 producers restrained sales of high quality milling wheat expecting domestic price increase due to lower crop of milling wheat. But, presently price situation hasn`t changed considerably. Producers hold on to their high-quality wheat and its offer on domestic market remains low.
