Russia. Flour production shrinking

Last year’s 2.1% rise in Russian flour production gave place to a decline this year, reports UkrAgroConsult. Russia produced 7.034 MMT of flour in the first nine months of 2016, or 2.1% less than in July-September 2015.

Bread production in the period under review decreased 2.5% to 4.977 MMT, while pasta production dropped by 1.5% to 847.8 KMT.

Remarkably, with regard to flour production, its decline took place mostly in the new season of 2016/17, when Russia’s domestic market experienced difficulties with purchases of high-quality new-crop wheat.
